SOFTBALL GOES 5-1 IN MYRTLE BEACH

The Dublin Coffman Softball team spent spring break in Myrtle Beach, SC, winning five out of six games against teams from four different states.
The Rocks won games against Avenworth (PA) 4-2, Ashland Paul Blazer (KY) 13-3, St Francis (IL) 10-3, Moniteau (PA) 11-5 and Padau Franciscan (OH) 14-5. The only loss was against Vandalia Butler (OH) who scored late to pull out an 8-6 victory over the Rocks.
Maya Miles recorded three wins and a save, striking out 27 batters with an ERA of 1.48 to lead the rocks pitching staff. Kenzie Palmer started and won two games, with 13 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.00 to round out the pitching.
The offense was led by center fielder Taylor Covington who batted .800 for the week going 20-25, with 14 stolen bases, 12 runs scored and a two run home run. Catcher Marti Henkel was stellar behind the plate hitting .591 with 7 runs scored and 8 runs batted in to help lead the offense. Third basemen Julia Kassis hit .353 and led the Rocks with 9 RBIs, including a three run home run to break open game vs St Francis. Also helping the offense was shortstop Jamie Hamed with 5 runs and 5 RBIs, including a solo home run in the first game, Sophia Sims (.545 BA), Freshman Layla Miles (.500 BA), Maya Miles (4 runs, 4 RBIs) and Kenzie Palmer (3 runs, 5 RBIs).
Other Rocks contributing to the wins in Myrtle Beach include catcher Lily Foster(.333 BA), outfielders Ella Olberding (3 runs) and Ella Krumpak (4 runs) and second baseman Megan Day (2 RBIs).
