Dominic Drouhard allowed just two runs on Thursday, but Dublin Coffman couldn’t get the offense going in a 2-1 defeat to Marysville.
Messer got the win for Marysville. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out six, walked three and surrendered six hits.
Drouhard ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss.
The bottom of the third saw Marysville take an early lead, 1-0. Messer kicked things off for Marysville with a single. A stolen base then moved Messer from first to second.
The seventh inning saw Dublin Coffman score its only run on the day on a single by Evan Grootenhuis.
Marysville never trailed after scoring one run in the seventh on two singles.
